Part 1:
Hello Everyone!
My name is Cricket. I am 3 weeks old today! When I was born I wasn't able to use my hind legs. My new mom said the vets believe I was born breached and had to be pulled out. I don't remember much before my new mom got me at 3 days old but I know I didn't feel good. I lost the ability to use my front legs. I had a fever and I was dehydrated. My navel was infected so it hurt alot. It was full of pus as it formed an abscess. My new mom had our very amazing vet out to see me and she started to make me feel better! They made me a wheelchair so I could stand and use my legs! I learned to move them again. I didn't like the IV fluids I got several times a day or the medicine. But I started to feel better. Mom cried alot when she tucked me in for bed and rubbed my head. She promised me she would do all she could for me. One morning I suprised her with standing up on my hind legs! She helped me get up on my front and held onto me so I wouldn't fall. I've come a really long way! Mom told me about all the other animals excited to meet me! We went to the hospital to have my navel and legs looked at. That's when we found out I needed surgery to fix my leg. If I don't get surgery my life will be very short. Mom says holstein cows grow so large and heavy that I won't beable to stand. If I get the surgery it will be my only shot at living a long life out in the fields with all my future friends! I really want to live my life running, playing, and eating!

Part 2:
Cricket is a holstien steer calf. We have fought so hard to save him. We have lost sleep working round clock to get him through the first week. He didnt receive enough colostrum. We got him through the first tricky stage now are hoping to get him set up for his future. This calf puts a smile on everyone's face and has a huge following rooting for him. We really need your help! I myself had surgery 5 weeks ago and haven't been cleared to return to work so funds are tight at the sanctuary. Every bit helps! We are scheduling his surgery in New York and as soon as we get the funds we can bring him in.
