Thousand Oaks Titans (TO Titans) is a successful cricket team
that plays with the Southern California Cricket Association (SCCA) league. Since
2017, TO Titans has been working to grow the game of cricket in Ventura County,
diversify and popularize amongst Youth and Women.
We have used a makeshift cricket pitch for years, and our youth
players had to travel long distances to LA County to play the game. Lack of a
permanent cricket wicket in our community inhibits our ability to expand the
game to larger Ventura Community.
Over the last year, TO Titans have worked with
Congresswoman – Julia Brownley, TO Mayor – Bob Engler and Conejo Recreation and
Parks District (CRPD) to install an Astroturf cricket wicket that will provide
a better playing condition for cricket. The Astroturf cricket wicket will help
to promote and grow cricket in our community and provide a safe and fun
activity for boys and girls alike.
TO Titans has signed a MOU with CRPD to install the turf wicket at
Pepper Tree Playfield.Overall cost of installation and annual maintenance, student programs and conducting tournaments is estimated to be $25,000 over the next 3 years. City of Thousand Oaks has generously agreed to contribute ~$5,000 towards this project and TO Titans will contribute another $5,000, Woodley Youth Cricket Association (WYCA) will contribute $2,500 and be youth partner to host games.
We have started this campaign to raise $15,000 to cover the above expenses,
and we are reaching out to our friends, family, and Ventura County community
members to ask for support to grow the game.
Any contribution, no matter how
big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will bring us one step closer to
reaching our fundraising goal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this campaign message and
for your support. We are excited to bring a new and improved playing surface to
our community, and we couldn't do it without you.
