Hello, my name is Duberly Sanchez, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help during one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.

On February 19th, my 16 year old son was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

Crohn’s is a serious and chronic inflammatory condition of the digestive system that can cause severe pain, internal bleeding, malnutrition, and life threatening complications that could altered how the digestive system functions. While there is no cure, proper treatment can help manage symptoms and prevent long-term damage.

Since his diagnosis, he has undergone five surgeries across two different hospitals. Watching him go through so much pain at such a young age has been heartbreaking.

In just a couple of weeks, I will be bringing him home to begin a very expensive medical treatment and this isn’t just any step in his recovery. It is an absolutely critical moment. If we can’t afford this treatment, what could be resolved now with proper care may become a lifelong medical condition a permanent struggle that might have been avoided.

After this treatment, he will need to return to the hospital for what we pray will be his final surgery, God and the Blessed Virgin willing.

This journey has been both emotionally overwhelming and financially devastating. We are doing everything we can, but the cost of surgeries, medication, and continuous hospital care is beyond our reach as a family.

That’s why I’m humbly asking for your support. Whatever your heart moves you to give no amount is too small will bring us one step closer to giving my son the future he deserves.

Hola, mi nombre es Duberly Sánchez, y hoy recurro a ustedes con el corazón en la mano para pedir su apoyo en uno de los momentos más difíciles que hemos vivido como familia.

Mi hijo de 16 años fue diagnosticado con enfermedad de Crohn el pasado 19 de febrero.

La enfermedad de Crohn es una condición inflamatoria crónica del sistema digestivo que puede causar dolor intenso, desnutrición, hemorragias internas y complicaciones que alterarian el Sistema digestivo. No tiene cura, pero con el tratamiento adecuado puede manejarse y evitar daños permanentes.

Desde su diagnóstico, ha tenido que someterse a cinco intervenciones quirúrgicas en dos hospitales diferentes. Verlo enfrentar tanto dolor a tan corta edad ha sido desgarrador.

En unas semanas, tendremos que llevarlo a casa para iniciar un tratamiento médico que es muy costoso, pero absolutamente vital. Este tratamiento representa una etapa decisiva en su recuperación: si no logramos seguirlo correctamente por falta de recursos, lo que hoy puede tratarse y resolverse podría convertirse en una condición crónica de por vida. Es un momento crucial que no podemos dejar pasar.

Después del tratamiento, deberá regresar al hospital para someterse, con el favor de Dios y la Virgencita, a una última cirugía que podría marcar el fin de esta dura etapa.

Esta situación ha sido un gran reto emocional y económico para nosotros. Como familia, estamos haciendo todo lo posible, pero los gastos médicos, traslados y tratamientos superan nuestras posibilidades.

Por eso hoy, con toda humildad, les pedimos que nos apoyen con lo que su corazón les permita. Cada aporte, grande o pequeño, es un paso más hacia la recuperación de mi hijo y el alivio de nuestra carga.
