Our lovely Julie has just received the most devastating news of her life. After weeks of tests and uncertainty, she has been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. Without treatment, doctors at The Churchill in Oxford told her she would only have months to live.

Julie will never be completely cancer-free, but she is preparing to start immunotherapy in the coming weeks. This treatment is her best chance of slowing the cancer down, stopping it from spreading further, and giving her more precious time with the people she loves.

It all began when she woke up one morning with a lump on her thigh. Doctors first suspected sarcoma, but everything changed when she became breathless and a CT scan revealed a 5.8cm mass in her lung, collapsing part of it, another 2.8cm mass, and multiple nodules scattered across both lungs.

A biopsy confirmed the heartbreaking truth: the lump on her thigh was malignant melanoma, and it has already metastasised to her lungs.

She may soon need a stent fitted in her lung to help her breathe. Despite all of this, Julie’s strength has been astonishing. She is hilarious, a little crazy, and always looking out for others, and she is determined to fight this disease with everything she has.

Julie isn’t just a patient – she is a wife, a daughter-in-law, a mother of two, a dog mum, a sister, an auntie to three nieces, and the most loving great-auntie to her little nephew George. She means the world to all of us, and we are desperate to give her every chance possible to stay with her family for as long as we can.

Julie has been told she may only have months left, which has turned our whole world upside down. Because of this, we’ve decided that every penny raised will go towards whatever she may need throughout this journey: medication not available on the NHS, additional treatments, travel, or any unexpected costs that come with her care, which can include wigs, potential dental care, prescriptions etc. And, God willing, her healing and recovery.
