Update as of October 11th,2022. Baby Crew has been in the Arkansas Children’s NICU for 107 days. His mom and dad researched and found an Esophageal Atresia (EA) specialist in St. Petersburg, Florida. After talking with the surgeon and his team Josh and Shelby determined it was best that a specialist does the surgery Crew needs to connect his esophagus and his stomach. The surgery they specialize in at St. Petersburg for EA is not a surgery just any hospital or surgeon can do. So the fact that Crew is getting this surgery as his first surgery is a significant blessing. Shelby spoke with one of the Doctors in St. Petersburg today, and they told her next week (the week of October 17th) is the week they are looking at getting Crew transferred down to Florida.
Crew, Josh, Shelby, and Sienna will be in Florida for at least 12 weeks. Sienna finally gets to meet her baby brother! We are so excited for that day to arrive. They will all be together in Florida. I hope we can continue supporting my sweet family as they help their baby fight for his life! They have many needs: love, support, money, prayers and kindness. This gofundme is intended to help meet those needs. They have financial responsibilities such as a mortgage, car payments, insurance, and utilities. They will also have daily expenses for them and Sienna while in Florida. I hope we can provide some relief for them to focus on helping their baby fight this battle without the added stress/worry over how they will survive. Any amount you can donate will help. Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart!
Update as of 8-22-22: Crew’s surgery went well. He got his Mic-Key button in. The surgeon said they want his esophagus to be two vertebrae away from his stomach. Unfortunately, when they got in, they said, Crew’s esophagus was still four vertebrae away. So they are not close enough The surgeon said we would have another gap study in 4-6 weeks to recheck the distance.

Hey everyone! I'm setting up this fundraiser for my brother Josh Rogers and his family, Shelby, Crew, Tristan and Sienna. Josh, Shelby, Sienna and Tristan have been anxiously awaiting baby Crew's arrival scheduled for this Thursday, June 30th. Well, Crew had different plans! Just like that, He decided to switch things up. He woke mom and dad up in the middle of the night and said, "let's get this done. I'm ready to meet my big brother and big sister!" Unfortunately, the medical team discovered that Crew had Esophageal Atresia, which means his esophagus is not attached to his stomach. The fantastic nurses jumped in gear and set a plan for him to be airlifted to Children's in Little Rock. But this was, unfortunately, before his momma, daddy, brother and sister could hold him. Momma had to stay in the hospital to heal from her c-section, and dad rushed to Little Rock to be with his little boy.
When dad arrived at Children's, the surgeons informed him, Crew had one of the complicated types of Esophageal Atresia, type A. The doctor gave a timeline estimate of 4 months or more of inpatient treatment. The surgeons have placed a feeding tube for Crew to be able to receive nutrients. This feeding tube may be a year-long treatment while his little body grows and heals from the several procedures he will have done to construct his esophagus. They plan to do the first attachment of his esophagus in 12 weeks; then, they will need to monitor his healing and evaluate when he can start bottle feeding. At this time, they are saying he will be inpatient long-term without a current discharge date.
This anticipated long-term inpatient stay is not only physically taxing and emotionally shocking but also financially devastating. A medical crisis can bankrupt a family. I can't do anything about the overwhelming shock and physical strain this will put on my brother, Shelby and his children. Josh and Shelby will have so many expenses for travel and staying away from home. But, they also have their daily living expenses: housing, car payments, childcare, groceries, fuel, and personal and family medical care.
The only thing I know to do is to help them find resources. I want to do this fundraiser to help lessen the financial burden. I hope we can help them focus on their children and not worry about how they will pay their bills. Little Crew is so sweet, alert and active. He has a strong grip, busy hands and feet, and sweet loving eyes. I love him so much! It would mean the most if you could help, even a tiny amount. I would be eternally grateful.
