Cremation & Memorial funds for Russ Pryor

On May 31st our Dad, Russ Pryor, was hit head on while riding a motorcycle near Snelling, Ca. He was airlifted out to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Modesto, Ca and the driver of the vehicle who hit him was arrested for a DUI. When he arrived at the hospital he was unresponsive and was unable to breathe on his own. Before they could get him into the OR, he coded. The hospital had to break open his chest to resuscitate him, which they did successfully. 99% of people who have to have that done, don’t survive it, but he did. He made it to the operating room where he had to have the lower portion of his left leg amputated and most of his small intestine removed due internal bleeding. He again successfully made it out of the surgery but was still unresponsive and unable to breathe on his own. He had a full body CT scan which ended up showing a large hemorrhage in his brain and significant brain damage. My sister Shayla and I then had a very rough decision to make. We had to decide to do the operation to stop the bleeding in his brain which would then follow with another surgery to repair his diaphragm and then another to repair his thorax, if he survived all of these surgeries which was unlikely due to his unstableness he would still be in a vegetated state after, and would have most likely live in a facility unable to walk, talk, breathe or eat on his own. Shayla and I agreed that is not what our Dad would want, so we decided to not do the operation and transition him to Comfort Services, we started that process around 12:30pm yesterday and then our Dad passed with his loved ones surrounding him at 2:01pm on June 1st, 2022.

Along with Shayla and myself, my Dad also had three more children. His stepdaughter Ashley, his son Russell and his youngest daughter Maddie, and six grandchildren with one more on the way from Shayla.

After the loss of mine and Shayla’s mother less than 6 months ago, we definitely did not think we would be going through this so soon. With our Mother we had more time to plan as it was expected, but not in the case with our Dad. So we are asking if you can help us with funds to give our Dad a service we would really appreciate it. Also, your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time are what matters most to us.

Thank you in advance,
Shayla, Sarah, Ashley, Russell and Maddie
