Cremation & Memorial for Renee Hanaman

It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the recent death on May 4,

2022, of Renee Hanaman from cancer. Although she started treatments, the

cancer took her from us much more quickly than Renee and her family expected,

seven weeks from diagnosis to her death.

Renee Hanaman was a loving Grandmother, a giving and caring friend. She took

care of her two grandchildren, Zaria Sherfield and Nevaeh Rike, from birth, as

their legal guardian as well as their Nana. She worked ceaselessly to provide for

them, often working two to three jobs to make ends meet and give them the life

experiences she felt they deserved. Renee was full of hope, for herself, for Zaria

and Nevaeh’s future.

Unfortunately, Renee thought she had more time, time enough to make

arrangements for the girls, and directions for the disposition of her remains.

On behalf of Zaria and Nevaeh, we are asking for donations to help pay for

Renee’s cremation and for her memorial. As you can imagine, she left us

ill-prepared for the expenses that come along with her unexpected death.

Zaria and Nevaeh would like to have their Grandmother cremated. They want to

have some of the ashes placed into crystals that they can wear, so she will be

with them always. They also want to take the remaining ashes and leave them in

places they know Renee loved: the ocean, the foothills of the Sierras, Yosemite

are just a few of those places.

We are also planning to hold a memorial service for Renee at the Kaleidoscope

Garden in the near future. We will post a date after the cremation is completed.

We are starting this fundraiser to pay for the cremation and memorial costs.

The cremation is expected to cost approximately $2,500.00, the urn and

remembrance crystals for the girls about $500.00. The memorial service will be

an additional $500.00 including a donation to Kaleidoscope Cancer Connection.
