Hi family and friends. My name is Amanda Greer and I'm the daughter of Donna Hannon. Most of you knew her as Momma D. After my Dad passed away 12 years ago my mom had a very difficult time dealing with his loss, she became dangerously depressed and turned to drugs to cope with all of her emotions and pain. The last 5 years she developed a serious heart condition steming from her addiction and was in a tremendous amount of pain due to the constant swelling that this condition caused her on a daily basis. During this time she became homeless and suffered from serious mental health issues as well. This has been the most difficult 5 years of our lives watching her suffer and not having the ability to help her the way she needed or wanted to be helped. Homelessness caused a lot of barriers for her to regain her health and for us to help her as well. Unsanitary conditions, poor hygiene, dangerous living circumstances, no access to electricity for even the small luxuries, like having a working phone. All the things we take for granted on a daily basis. Its been a rough and worrisome couple of years for us all, including her. My immediate family and our close friends have been in constant prayer for her for quite some time now. The past 2 years her health declined rapidly and she spent almost every holiday in the hospital or a nursing home trying to get the care she needed and deserved. Her living conditions were the cause of this last trip she made to the hospital. She contracted a flesh eating bacteria and was declining very quickly. They removed most of her leg but during this procedure her blood pressure dropped to a very scary low. The staff were wonderful and so caring. They tried everything they could but her body was just too weak to go on. The Lord gave her the most wonderful nurse who called me from his personal cell phone so we could speak to her on Face Time one last time and say our goodbyes. It was a very emotional moment but I wanted her to know how much we loved her and that this painful life she had been enduring for so long didn't have to continue anymore and she could rest easy in knowing that we have a merciful Lord who is so loving and so forgiving and loves her more than we ever could and most importantly we prayed for her salvation. Very soon after this talk the Lord took her home and she got to spend the last 2 hours of my dad's heavenly birthday with him. No more pain, suffering, living in bondage. She was finally FREE! He made her new again, white as snow.
Most of my family and friends knew my mom didn't have anything worth saving in her possession but have asked and offered to help us with her cremation so I can put her in a beautiful urn and place her in the most perfect spot in our home where she has always belonged. She deserves this place here. She was a wonderful mommy, grandma, sister and friend. So if you feel led to donate to our family to help with her cremation, we would absolutely be grateful and so appreciative of those blessings from our family and friends but please don't feel obligated.
We are also planning a celebration of life for her in the near future at our wonderful church Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel.
Thank you all so much for your love, support and generosity during this time. We thank you from the very bottom of our hearts
Joe, Amanda, Joey and Gage Greer
