Cremation Expenses for Mary Louise Goodman
Donation protected
Mary Goodman was a beloved mother, neighbor and friend who lived in Brooklyn for over 35 years. She was a talented singer and actress, a volunteer at animal rescues, an involved member of her local community board, and a vocal proponent of equity and justice for all.
In March of 2021 Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and immediately transferred to an assisted living facility due to the rapid progression of her illness. She was in their care for 10 months before she passed due to a breakthrough COVID infection the morning of January 14th, 2022 at the age of 60.
Unfortunately, as her only child I am unable to cover the expenses required to give her a proper cremation. I never anticipated that my mother would be unable to attend my college graduation last May at 21 years old, nor recognize myself or her sister Lisa in her final months. All funds donated here will be used to help cover these expenses, and if there is any money left over we plan to donate it to a local no-kill animal rescue or shelter.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated. If you have any personal stories about Mary, please feel free to share them along with your donation - they have been a great comfort to us during this time. We hope to hold a memorial in her hometown of Croton-on-Hudson later in the year depending upon the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic.
