My sister, Nerea Garate, suffered with a multitude of physical ailments, chronic pain, mental illness, and addiction. She succumbed suddenly and without warning on December 4, 2016 leaving her children and immediate family in a state of shock. My mother and myself are trying to handle her cremation, but we are currently relying on the kindness of friends for a roof over our heads due to a house fire on Thanksgiving. We have been dealing with a multitude of financial problems that are no fault of  our own, but they are what they are...life's struggles. The thought of my sister's body just waiting to be put to rest because we don't have necessary funds to pay for her body's peace feels like the ultimate betrayal and failure to her.
