Hi this is Ed Ellis, Most of you know me and my wife Laurel Ellis. I am fundraising for Laurel's final cremation.

Most of you know my wife of 45 years Laurel Ellis. What most of you don’t know is the struggles she has had the last 5-6 years. It started off as a little fall here and there, mostly what we thought was due to her back and hip pain made it difficult to walk. We then found out she also has fibromyalgia so just having someone touch her skin hurt her. She got to where she couldn’t walk without help so she had to leave her real estate business. After about a year I couldn’t leave her home alone more than a couple of hours so we both had to leave our carriers behind and live off our savings and social security (to say the least this didn’t last long). It wasn’t long before we noticed that Laurel was seeing and hearing things that weren’t there. We found she had extra pressure on the brain and had to have a shunt put in to relieve the pressure. This did not stop the seeing and hearing things but eased her migraines. Well things got worse in February 2023 as she could no longer walk so I had to put her in the hospital and she hasn’t been home since.

We had put her in Senior Bridges in Sparks and found that Laurel has Dementia. We had to go on Medicaid in order to afford her in long term care. This is a very unforgiving disease as now she has stopped eating because her brain tells her she’s not hungry or it tastes bad. This has caused her body to start shutting down slowly and she has infections that she just can’t fight off anymore. Because she has been in so much pain over the last 6 years we have moved her into Hospice comfort care.

She may last a couple of weeks or a couple of months, but her time is near.

Years ago we decided to be cremated and our ashes mixed together but we never made those arrangements (you always think you will have plenty of time) and because of her medical bills I don’t have enough money for the cremation and everything that needs to be paid. I have started this Go Fund Me page to help me pay for this. Even if you can only give $5.00 it can go a long way in relieving some of my financial pain.
