Cremation and Final Expenses for Randall Hill

Donation protected
In a year already filled with grief and uncertainty, it pains me to no end to have to announce that my father Randall Hill passed away at 12:32am on Monday October 11, 2021 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, VT after a brief but aggressive bout of pneumonia - compounded by heart disease, COPD, and cigarette smoking. He was only 59 years old. Naturally this is shocking and upsetting news for my family - especially after the loss of our mother to cancer back in January. And I can’t believe we have to do all this again after only nine months…

Due to the sudden nature of his passing, he had not taken proper precautions to put his final affairs in order - only bestowing unto me, his son, the verbal responsibility of managing his affairs in the event of his death. And due to his ongoing illnesses he was unable to work for the past year while he tried to get on disability. But he never made it that far. He had no life insurance, no real savings, no property, not even a vehicle. So the burden falls unfortunately on me and the rest of his children to foot the bill for the disposition of his body and the covering of his final expenses.

We are arranging cremation services through the A W Rich Funeral Home in Fairfax, VT - the same package my mother had back in January, as that sets a reasonable cost. And to keep costs down further we are forgoing formal funeral services. Anything raised above and beyond the cost of the cremation will go towards other outstanding bills and expenses that are left behind with his passing, and to his children.

We will host a celebration of life at a later date, yet to be determined, where we will be able to gather as family and friends. We felt, as a family, that hosting a service and imploring relatives and well-wishers to travel from all across the country and across the world would be irresponsible as the pandemic continues to rage on. So we will update as that information becomes known, but it is likely to be sometime next year in 2022.

We appreciate your condolences and your well-wishes as we process this sudden loss of our brother, uncle, friend, father, and last living parent. Loss is never easy, but it has a way of showing us how much we all mean to one another. Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to us.
