Hi my Name is Melissa I live in Florida and Scott was my oldest brother He lived in New York. Scott was 54 and died on January 7, 2022 @ 1:51am. He died very unexpectedly. Scott had Diabeties and died from DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis) this is when your blood sugars are uncontrolled and all of your organs shut down. On January 7, 2022. Friends and Family became worried for Scott due to him not responding to phone calls or texts in over a week. A call from his children and ex- wife was placed to the local police station to do a welfare check. Police went to his apartment where his daughter Lily waited. Police took no action at the time and didn't see a need to investigate any further . Later that day a separate call to do a welfare check was placed to Police by Scott's best friend. After several hours Police gained access to the apartment with the Landlord. Scott was found unconscious in his living room. He was transfered to the closest hospital. I was contacted by his friend and tried to get information on his condition. The emergency room denied me any information. Hours had passed and eventually the doctor called his Children and advised of Scott's grave condition and they where allowed to go and see him. His children traveled an hour away to be by his side. They said final goodbyes. I was appreciative that I was able to also say goodbye from the phone. I let Scott know I loved him and that it was ok to let go. Scott's passing was very unexpected. He left behind Twin Daughter's Emily and Lily (20) and son Ben (18). His children are all facing extreme financial difficulties as well as myself, scotts Brother Matthew and Mother Barbara. Scott's landlord advised us that we will need to show a will in order to gain access to the apartment to get any of Scott's belongings. Unfortunately Scott had no will and was facing financial difficulty, He was laid off due to Covid cutbacks, Was having difficulty with finding work and being employed due to ongoing health issues and facing homelessness himself. Scott was trying to apply for disability but we all know about that process. We are asking for assistance with a simple cremation and help in retaining and attorney. His Children would love to make Scott's final resting spot his favorite campsite. Please help our family out any donation will be directed toward Scott's cremation, attorney. We thank you so much.
