Cree Camps 2016
Donation protected
Four years ago, we were invited by a local church in Mistissini, Quebec, to bring a team of students north to help run a week-long camp for Cree teenagers. This ministry has continued and expanded every year since.
This year, we're running pre-teen and teen programs at two camps--Sonrise Bible Camp in Mistissini, and Nemaska Bible Camp in Nemaska, Quebec. We are also sending a team to Nemaska to prepare local youth to run a children's camp.
The camps are a way of telling these teens about Jesus and having personal conversations about what they struggle with. They are opportunities to share God’s love when we demonstrate our care and commitment to the teens. They are often the only Christian opportunity that these teens get in the year – so they aim to provide a time of health and renewal for them away from harmful environments.
Our goal is to raise $10,000, which will cover the living costs back home for those going north for four weeks, the cost of camp supplies, and a portion of the salary of three summer students that are working with the camps.
These staff include Erin Van Winden, Kevin Price, and Elijah Gwayumba, and they are each responsible for raising $1500 of their wage.
If you wish to receive a tax receipt for your donations, you can give through Auburn Bible Chapel. To find out more about this, see http://auburnbiblechapel.com/giving. To give a one-time gift to the Cree Camps through the church, you can do so through cash, cheque, or Interac e-transfer. When you give, please be sure to specify that you are giving towards the Campus Ministry so that the deacons know where to direct the funds.
Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
