It is with great sadness that we share that Karen Credgington passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of June 8, 2020. Her decline happened quite suddenly following hospitalization for a severe muscle injury. She left surrounded by family and the love and memories from those who knew her and whose lives she touched.
Whether you knew her for her lively banquets, amazing cookies, or her compassionate heart, you know that Mrs. Credgington spent a lifetime in the service of others. As Director of House for the Annie Wright School, she dedicated her 26-year career to enhancing the experience of private education. Infusing her own sense of class and professionalism, Karen delighted in providing daily meals, hosting dinner parties, and adding to the memories of countless students, faculty, and guests. “Mrs. C’s kitchen” was a place of community where everyone belonged; where you could always find a caring ear or sneak a of couple cookies.
Throughout her retirement, Mrs. Credgington continued to support the school that she loved and connect with friends, former students, and others from the AWS community past and present. She often said that, “Education is the one thing that no one can ever take away from you.” It is in that spirit that we ask for your donations to help memorialize this treasure of person. Funds raised will help establish an appropriate memorial (either physical or scholarship) in Mrs. Credgington’s name to honor her profound love of education.
