One of the most fulfilling things I've done in my life is teaching creative writing in various institutions in California. I began teaching over 20 years ago at the California Youth Authority. At present I'm teaching at Solano State Prison, in Vacaville, CA. The work has been educational and inspiring. A good number of my students have had their work published and their writing is inspirational and has led to successful transitions back into their communities. Unfortunately the funding for the program has gotten thin and there is a risk that this rehabilitative program could come to a close. The funds raised will contribute to keeping the program thriving.
