Hi!

My name is Michelle Holdt and I am a bold, creative, and love-drenched voice in the world of educational change. I am also an artist, a mom of three young adults, and a passionate advocate leading for Love with a capital L and Creativity with a capital C. I bring 30+ years of arts education leadership experience combined with a passionate commitment to self-awareness and creativity to this new vision. Please help me to raise funds to launch a new national education organization to support schools, teachers, and students. Creative Compassionate Classrooms.

 

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our school communities. We are witnessing massive staff shortages, crises in teacher and student mental health, and an overall sense of complete overwhelm and exhaustion. The US Surgeon General issued a warning addressing these very concerns. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) has always been an urgent need in schools, and even more so, since the pandemic. We all hear the phrase “put your own oxygen mask on first,” and it is now time to implement the actions necessary to “walk our talk” and address the collective trauma we are witnessing play out in our schools and communities. Arts enhanced Social and Emotional Learning is not “One More Thing...It is THE THING.”

 

Creative and Compassionate approaches move schools and teachers to fully embodying how we as humans can truly connect and care for ourselves and each other. Participants in our workshops will learn arts-based activities and games that they can use with their leadership teams, staff, students, families, and school communities. Participants will also learn simple, human-centered exercises, grounded in mindfulness and restorative circles to build healthy, resilient, and vibrant classrooms and schools.

 

Your support today will help us to record & produce fun, short instructional videos that share easy-to-implement sample lessons and strategies for teachers and leaders to watch alongside their students and later implement on their own. Somewhere between a Tik Tok and a TED Talk… We will also use funds raised to write creative, compassionate curriculum for teachers, build new partnerships, and launch a social media campaign.
