How We Talk- A Creative Camp on the Farm

For the last 10 years, I have been saying, “I will create a safe and positive space for children to them themselves and create!”

Yesterday I shared that ppl had started commenting about the way I talked in a video and y’all came with an outpouring of LOVE! Guess who else doesn’t care how I talk? THESE KIDS!! This is why me showing up is important. They get to come to a place where comments like that aren’t allowed. They get to be kids and not worry about some adult trying to racially profile them. We have fun here! We learn here! We CREATE here!

Imagination is so important to me. In the first picture, I’m sitting in the shed which we are turning into a bookstore. I’m holding my Black equestrian coloring book. Something I created. Given the opportunity, resources, and safe space— what do you think children would create?? Being free to imagine, they could create wonderful and original things!

So here’s what I’m going to do because after yesterday I’m even more fired up to keep going!

I’m going to offer a creative camp on the farm. Here’s how you can help reach this goal by June 1st:

Steps & ramp for the shed- $2000

Sponsor a child for $250 (11 children)

Art materials & journals- $850

5 Noise-cancelling headphones- $111

Shed payoff- $5000

Once this is funded, I will immediately call M&M Flooring for them to install the steps and ramp! Having a ramp is so important because we may have a child who uses a wheelchair or other devices to help them walk. This shed has to be accessible to all!

In addition to the camp, each child will get a Black equestrian coloring book, my newest journal (not released yet but it’s so cute), and a t-shirt with a message of belonging!
