Hi, I’m Sharon! I’m a resident stage manager at a professional theatre company, and I’m excited to take the next step in my journey by training to become an Intimacy Director.

Intimacy Directors are essential in modern theatre, helping ensure that a director’s vision and performers’ boundaries come together in a way that is safe, respectful, and artistically powerful. Though Intimacy Directing is a relatively new field, it is already transforming the industry — and it’s critical that those leading this work reflect the rich diversity of the performers they support.

As a plus-sized woman of color, I believe it’s vital that creatives like me are part of the conversation shaping the future of theatre. Representation matters — onstage and behind the scenes — and I’m committed to being a voice and advocate for performers whose identities deserve to be centered and respected.

I will be participating in the Accelerator Program through Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) as the first step on this journey! The full cost of the program is $3,500, but thanks to a scholarship, I only need to raise just under $1,500.

While I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and scholarship, the remaining cost is still a stretch on my non-profit salary — and that’s why I’m reaching out for support.
