Creating Eva Martin's Lasting Legacy

Donation protected
This beautiful girl, is Eva. She was 3 1/2 years old before she so tragically died. Our names are Rick and Rebekah Martin and we have been wanting something to create to honor her memory. Her brother Lucas and her had a relationship like very few siblings. It is our hope that we can continue to remind him of her light and show what postive things can come from her always being with and around us. In creating this fundraiser, we hope to help cover hospital expenses. With all the continued outreach and support and people's love and adoration for her, we hope to create something beautiful out of this horrific and dark moment in our lives. We have prayed on this and feel that a memorial of some kind or scholarship fund in her honor, whether it be to nursing or Trinity Lutheran (Precious in His Sight) daycare of Sawyer, Michigan, that was such a huge part to who she became, would help her to live on. The memory of the lives she touched, for such a brief moment on this earth, was truly magical. And just like Eva, we hope to spread smiles, as her silliness was often what radiated out of her, even aside from her adorable shyness. She was truly a special soul who's light was captured and we hope will continue to radiate for us and those she touched.

Sunday, June 4th, 2023, the date of her accident, will forever weigh the heaviest burden we ever could've concieved of carrying. Eva tragically passed away on June 5th, 2023. She spent 2 days in the care of pediatric nurses trying to save her life. The care and compassion of these nurses and doctors, deeply impacted our lives. And as we watched them care for our baby girl, the team at Corewell Spectrum in Saint Joseph and later that evening at Bronson Pediatric Intensive Care in Kalamazoo, was truly remarkable. We are so thankful to the first responders in our area, and even amidst the reality of time, they never waivered and those moments that we spent snuggling our baby after her heart had started beating, will forever be the final moments that we can't express our gratitude for.

Please, with all the outpouring of love and support we have recieved, help us to do something to keep her memory with us. She will always be there in spirit and if we can touch those around us, as so many have in our worst and darkest moments, we will know that Eva's spirit and firey zest will flourish throughout our small community.

Thank you, with kindness and love and all the cheesiest of smiles from Eva
