My name is Laura Cordray. My husband is Scott Cordray. He is a local physician and surgeon in our community.
We decided to use this platform in an effort to raise money for our dear friend Cheri as she continues to walk the path of a cancer diagnosis because we believe that helping is a tapestry of many hands. This is a powerful metaphor that my husband and I try to live by each day, which represents our belief in collective support, community, and the idea that many individuals working together can provide comfort and create positive change.
Helping is not a single act, but an interconnected, complex, and beautiful web of actions, much like threads woven together. We would like to invite each one of you to connect with us on our journey to provide support to a fellow human who is walking an unfamiliar path and could use some encouragement and financial assistance.
We wanted to reach out to our community and beyond with the goal of collaboration of a common goal which envelops a saying that I grew up with. My “Grammy” would frequently say that “many hands make light work.” It’s a beautiful thing when a group of diverse individuals contribute to a common goal, making a great task manageable. We are asking you to consider being a part of making Cheri’s treatment manageable.
Resilience and strength can be found and felt in unity where individuals, like threads, are woven together to form a strong, lasting, and beautiful structure. We would be honored if you would join us in creating a tapestry of love in the life of Cheri.
We want Cheri to feel the connection and support of our many collective hands. There is tremendous beauty in shared responsibility and the idea that our collective actions create a better, more supportive, and intricate picture of human kindness.
Cheri and her husband Kendall have been our dear friends for the past 15 years.
For those of you who don’t know her, I’d like to introduce you to one of the kindest, most generous, faith-filled, hardworking, loving human beings I’ve ever known.
Cheri and Kendall have been married for the past 21 years and live together with their dog animal babies Dexter and Lucy, and Leo, their cat.
Many of you may know Cheri from Mathis Brothers Furniture. She has been a primary pillar of their sales structure for the past 21 years. Although she won’t tell you this, she has been one of their highest volume salespeople for the past decade and works faithfully to ensure that her clients are well cared for and that her work family is represented with the highest standards and ethics.
Cheri was diagnosed with high-grade leiomyosarcoma in 2024. Since this time, she has undergone multiple surgeries to remove various tumors that have developed throughout her body. Currently, Cheri’s metastatic disease has progressed to a point that local physicians cannot provide the life-sustaining treatment that is required and she needs to be seen and treated at a specialized cancer treatment center.
We are in the process of helping Cheri identify a treatment facility that can best support her. At this time, she is unsure if she is going to go to Switzerland, Mexico, or another not yet identified location for life-sustaining treatment. She will make her decision in the next few days. Time is of the essence and we are asking for your generous support, prayers, and words of encouragement so that Cheri does not have to carry the financial and emotional burden of her care alone.
