Creating Memories With Daddy

Donation protected
As a nurse, I am touched by many situations and life stories, but this particular situation really hit home…

Nurses don’t just treat or care for a patient, our care is circumstantial and tailored for the situation and diagnosis, nursing care is holistic. I have not been so compelled to do something for a patient as much as I have in this case. I feel that my care for him will not be complete unless I am able to do a little more, I have to do this.

My patient and his family have literally had their whole world torn apart. With permission from my patient Donnie and wife Dulcie, I am going to share a little about their circumstance. Donnie had onset of facial numbness in September of this year. He was treated by his local physician with no improvement of symptoms. Donnie was diagnosed with a high grade glioma in early November. The Powell's have three children... Kaiden (8), Zaylee (3), and Felix (19 months). They will all be burdened with Donnie going through chemotherapy and radiation. Life is not fair and it is blatantly going to suck for this family. Donnie is a good person and has a good family. A 32 year old with three young children ages 8 years to 19 months old to be given a diagnosis that can potentially take him away from the family that loves and needs him is enough to make anyone disheartened; but, furthermore, could you imagine being given that diagnosis and have a wildfire impacting your daily life as well? Although they did not lose their house in the fire, Donnie's parents did. He also lost the hospital that he was to receive treatment. He will now have to drive 5 hours and seek housing to be close to a treatment facility. Then add on nausea only controlled with expensive medication that your insurance will not cover.

This Go-Fund-Me is to provide this patient with funds to give him and his family an impacting memory. Something that they will never forget. Something happy and good to instill in his children forever. Something to make life just a little easier for the Powell family.
