Support "General Terry the Territorial Turtle" Video Game

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Ronald J. Fontenot, and I am an artist seeking to create a fun video game for families, friends, and people of all ages to enjoy (particularly in these difficult times!). I have a BFA degree in Electronic Art, college experience in 3D animation using Maya, C++ Computer Programming, and over 10 years experience composing and writing songs.

Tell me about the game

It all started with a few sketches I made in college.

I had an idea for this turtle character, and I thought his shell made him the perfect military general, so that's what I imagined him to be.

Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo has always been one of my favorite games. I always wanted to make a game like that, an action RPG with nice music, fun characters and great gameplay.

My vision is to have a video game, inspired by Secret of Mana, that features a militant, territorial turtle and his journey to return home after a series of unfortunate events.

The turtle's name is General Terry the Territorial Turtle, aka General TTT. He lives in the forest, and had a rough childhood, watching siblings and friends disappear. His upbringing toughed him, so when he was faced with challenges, General TTT stepped into action.

One day when crossing the road, he almost got hit by a truck. Humans took him in as a pet. But General TTT is a Territorial Box Turtle! He wants nothing more than to return home to patrol his forest. Watch him face countless obstacles in the city, in the country, and on his journey.

Tell me about your progress

Step 1: I sketched the character.

Step 2: I modeled and textured the character in 3D using Maya software.

Step 3: I developed a story of the turtle and his quest to return home.

Step 4: I paid to have the model rigged. That means I got bones and controls put in the model so he is ready for animation.

Step 5: I hired a background artist to design a background of a forest for the first level of the game. He is almost done designing the forest.

Step 6: I hired an artist to create assets for the game. For example, she designed apples and strawberries for the turtle to eat.

Step 7: I worked on a few test animations with the character including walking, running, attacking, and more. I have videos on my youtube channel showing my progress.

Step 8: I talked with programmers on Fiverr.com about the cost and scope of producing a prototype game similar to Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo. I initially plan to release one level as a prototype.

Step 9: I got a few enemy designs created of crocodiles who oppose the turtle.

Step 10: I composed a few songs for the game, and I wrote the words to this theme song featuring EDM artist Tim Moyo singing.

Step 11: I made more test animations.

Step 12: I came to GoFundMe to seek help funding the programming for the game. I have enough assets to present it to the Fiverr sellers to create a prototype, however I need help to pay them for this and future progress in the game.

How will the funds be used?

All funds will be used in the construction of this video game prototype and the final game.
