Create Change For Janie in 2019

It isn’t often in one’s life when you meet someone who has changed so many lives by just being themselves. My friend Janie is that person! I met Janie over 20 years ago. We met while working in dentistry together, when she was a dental assistant. She was the one who, when you go the dentist scared to death, she greets you in an upbeat manner. She holds your hand, patiently answers all the questions you have and would call you that evening to see how you were doing. Her “calling” in life was caring for people who she called “Her” patients. Anyone who worked with her knew she loved her job, it truly was a calling for her.
Fast forward 20 years later and Janie has advanced her way through the dental field by becoming a Consultant for dentists and their teams, helping them master what she was so good at. She directly had an impact on dental practices and the high quality care they delivered to their patients.
In May, my friend Janie received some devastating news. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the summer months she completed her surgeries in addition to 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments. Which means she has not been able to work for over 6 months. In November she went back to the doctor for a follow up (hopefully an “all clear”) she was hit with some unbelievable news yet again. A large cyst which was there 6 months ago was completely gone, however it was hiding something very suspicious behind it that the doctors didn’t see before, possibility of more cancer. She may have to go through this entire process ALL OVER AGAIN.
Janie’s health insurance only covers 50-80% of all of these procedures, surgeries, doctor’s visits, scans, tests and 5 years’ worth of chemotherapy medications. The amount to date is staggering.
Janie is just now able to start back to work. She is a single parent household who has two teenaged children who rely on her. One who is in her first year of college and tuition is due twice a year…and the other who has medical issues, frequent specialist visits, along with very expensive monthly medications. Being able to keep up with the monthly household bills and also have the fear of losing everything, including her home, and what she has spent the last 10 years building is extremely difficult.
Janie is a very proud and independent person. I am writing this letter as a way to ask for her to get help. Janie has always given to anyone in need even if that meant she had to go without. She donates to many charities throughout the year and has even opened her home to friends who had no place to go. I know many of her friends and family have said, “let me know if there is anything I can do to help out”….I think this is where Janie now needs our help the most.
Anything amount you can donate would be appreciated and would help with her increasing large bills.
Please help someone who has been a giver her entire life.
