Create a teaching collection in Museum of Printing
The Museum of Printing at New England Regional Art Museum is a working museum of printing equipment from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is a dedicated community of printers, print & type enthusiasts, and historians who keep the museum open to the public, and pass on the skills of traditional analogue printing and bookmaking.
We have the opportunity to purchase 100 complete sets of lead type, which will be used to establish a teaching collection, allowing us to keep alive the art and craft of letterpress and hand-compositing/typesetting; not to mention supporting a local business that has been part of the New England community for decades.
Your donation will help us purchase and transport the two double type cabinets - treasures in themselves - from Tamworth to Armidale, and make them available for classes, workshops, demonstrations, visiting artists, and our resident Black Gully Printmakers to use, explore and pass on this amazing tradition.
