My name is Lucy Antill and I am the founder of Monarch's Mutts Dog Rescue. We are a registered charity and have being saving dogs in need for almost 8 years. Some of our dogs are not able to be rehomed, due to age, behavioural difficulties or health needs and we are desperate for somewhere for them to go and to be able to save more.
In the UK, stray dogs are taken to "death row" where they are at risk of being put to sleep if a rescue space can't be secured. With so few spaces for rescue dogs, it's more important than ever that we buy land and create a new sanctuary space for needy dogs ( and an occasional cat, reptile etc.
Dog abuse and abandonment is much worse since covid, yet we have less suitable, loving homes for dogs than ever, with more and more rescue centres closing down due to poor welfare standards.
Our father wrote and founded The Monarch's Way, a 600 mile footpath taken by King Charles to escape the French in the 1600's. We would love to build a sanctuary for dogs in need and any ramblers to rest their weary legs. If we could purchase something suitable along the Monarch's way, in the west midlands, that would be perfect!
