HELP HEPTONSTALL SCHOOL DEVELOP AN ON-SITE FOREST SCHOOL

The Parents And Friends Of Heptonstall School main aim and purpose as a charity is to raise money to support to provide things that support every child of Heptonstall J&I School .

We have been approached by the school about a new and exciting provision for all the children of the school, an onsite forest school!

We have helped the school to find a brilliant local forest school facilitator OAK APPLES who support other local schools also.

The idea is for the initial year set up, is that each class will get to use the forest school provision for one full term on half a day a week. The children will be helping to build the site themselves and learn many skills alongside. This site will be located on the school grounds so will be a asset to the school that can be used into the future and we hope that the forest school can continue to run throughout many years to come.

Forest School is a play based, child led learning that takes place in an outdoor classroom, (our forest school lead has even suggested that she can run activites that support what is on the curriculum for that year group.) It is a way of providing an environmental education for our children, whilst stimulating their innate creativity. Studies have shown that learning in a natural environment helps children in a multitude of way ranging from confidence to social, emotional, intellectual, physical and language development.

Our target of £3,900 is to support the full year of each child getting to use the provision with the trained forest lead. We will be doing additional fundraising to try to help reach this target but please help share this fundraiser far and wide as any extra that we make then we can put into better forest school equipment such as wooden dens etc.
