The Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School’s Middle and High School Odyssey of the Mind teams have earned their way to the World Finals Competition in Ames, Iowa this year. Taking 1st place in regional competition, and placing 2nd and 3rd at the State Tournament, these two teams have performed at a consistently high level to qualify to move on to this competition against teams from all over the US and abroad.

We are very excited to have two teams qualify to move on to the highest level of competition. To have the chance to compete at the world level is not something that comes along often, and is especially exciting as we are re-finding “normalcy” for our students. The interaction that our students will have with other teams from all over the country and world is a great learning opportunity as students see how others have “solved” the same problem as them.

Odyssey of the Mind is one of the most innovative programs that our district participates in, and has helped these students grow intellectually through problem solving and expanding their creative and technical skills. Emotionally and socially, they have learned to push through challenges, work cooperatively, resolve conflicts, handle victories and defeats, and maintain positivity throughout. Competing at this level is the “capstone” experience, allowing them to use all of the skills they have gained and also serving as role models for current and future teams across the district.

This trip/competition will be May 25 - 29, 2022. To help offset the cost of the trip, we would greatly appreciate anyone willing to sponsor our team with a small donation towards our anticipated costs of $20,000 to send our 15 team members and 3 coaches to Iowa. These costs include performance materials, shipping costs, transportation, and food and lodging during our stay. Your contribution will help to make this once in a lifetime experience possible and memorable.
