Support for Gage Towles – A Class Act on the Water
As the mother of a boy around Gage’s age, I was absolutely mortified watching this video. My son often goes golfing or enjoys hobbies on his own, and I couldn’t help but think—what if this had been him? It’s downright scary.
My nephew and his friends live in Cedar Key and are constantly out on their boats. This incident is a reminder of just how unpredictable and even dangerous people can be, even in places we consider safe and peaceful.
Gage Towles was out on the water when he encountered an older, clearly intoxicated fishing charter captain who not only yelled and cursed at him but actually boarded Gage’s boat and acted aggressively.
But instead of reacting with anger or fear, Gage stayed calm, respectful, and composed. He tried to de-escalate the situation—something not many adults could’ve done so well.
If the community is ready to hold the charter captain accountable for his behavior and loss of business, let’s also show support for the young man who handled it like a true class act.
Let’s reward the GOOD. Let’s raise up and reinforce this kind of behavior by helping Gage feel the support he deserves.
Funds raised will go directly to Gage as a thank-you and a reminder that kindness, calm, and maturity still matter.
Please donate, share, and help spread the message.
