CRAIG'S STORY
WHY HE'S RUNNING
Craig is celebrating 25 years in business in a big way! He has decided to take on a huge challenge and run 250 miles in a week around the beautiful Norfolk countryside in support of Alzheimer's Research UK plus also supporting Holt Youth Project, Hallswood Animal Sanctuary, The Feed and Priory Paddocks Nursing Home.
For 25 years I have been running a successful business in Norfolk - Rock Solid Graphics & Print and I wanted to do something special to commemorate this milestone. So, I decided to take on an even bigger challenge – running 250 miles in a week around the Norfolk countryside for a charity close to my heart – Alzheimer's Research UK and other local Charities.
I’ve had personal experience with dementia, as it has recently affected my mother who is now in full-time care at Priory Paddocks Nursing Home. This experience has shown me how devastating dementia can be, and so I wanted to do something to help the cause. Running 250 miles seemed like the perfect way to challenge me while raising awareness and funds for the charity.
Not only that, but I believe that physical activity is a great way to keep your mind sharp, so this challenge is also about encouraging people to get out and exercise more. I want to show that even at the age of 50, you can still take on a big challenge like this and achieve it!
THE ROUTE
I'll be running 250 miles around the Norfolk countryside over one week to celebrate 25 years in business and to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK plus Holt Youth Project, Hallswood Animal Sanctuary, The Feed and Priory Paddocks Nursing Home. I'm aiming to cover this distance in 7 days and will start on Monday 3rd July 2023.
My route will take me through many beautiful parts of Norfolk and Suffolk, including the stunning North Norfolk coast and the tranquil countryside of the Brecks starting in Great Yarmouth and ending at the care home where my mother is a resident.
DAY 1. GREAT YARMOUTH TO METTINGHAM - 35 MILES
DAY 2. METTINGHAM TO REDGRAVE - 36 MILES
DAY 3. REDGRAVE TO CASTLE ACRE - 35.5 MILES
DAY 4. CASTLE ACRE TO BRANCASTER - 35.5 MILES
DAY 5. BRANCASTER TO OVERSTRAND - 36 MILES
DAY 6. OVERSTRAND TO HOPTON - 36 MILES
DAY 7. HOPTON TO DARSHAM - 32 MILES
Throughout my run, I'll be stopping regularly at different villages along the way to rest and refuel. I'm looking forward to taking in the sights and sounds of the stunning Norfolk landscape, and hope that I can encourage others to join me on this journey to support my challenge.
THE CHARITIES
I'm proud to be supporting these great Charities with my 250-mile challenge which aims to raise vital funds and awareness.
Alzheimer's Research UK and the fight against dementia. This is a charity that works tirelessly leading dementia research, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. The charity was founded in 1992 with their pioneering work bringing us closer to a future without the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
The Feed is a not-for-profit social enterprise and charity providing catering services.
Our social purpose is to prevent poverty, hunger and homelessness in Norwich.
One of England’s most imaginative youth schemes and an award-winning project.
Hallswood's mission is to rescue, support, and advocate for wildlife, and in special cases domestic animals, through rehabilitation, education, and community outreach.
At Priory Paddocks Nursing Home, their aim is to provide all the necessary care and attention for those who wish to spend their retirement in a secure and caring atmosphere, whilst respecting their privacy and maintaining their independence and dignity as far as possible.
I encourage everyone to donate what they can and help support the work of Alzheimer's Research UK plus also supporting Holt Youth Project, Hallswood Animal Sanctuary, The Feed and Priory Paddocks Nursing Home. Every contribution makes a difference. Together we can make a real difference!
