Who this will help

I am Brenda and am raising money to offset the crippling cost of cancer care for my partner Craig. Even with some insurance he is unable to afford the deductibles and copays, despite working a full time job during treatment. He hasn't met his grandchild yet and would like to make that goal.

Why I'm fundraising

Craig has worked hard all of his life, and like many of us in the United States just cannot seem to get ahead. Now he has been hit with a catastrophic diagnosis and it just seems insurmountable. Cancer Care in Florida is exceedingly expensive, we cannot even get the PET scan for him to determine the Gastric Cancer stage without meeting his deductible which is $3800.00 and the longer he waits the more this could potentially spread. He has considered declining care due to needing this scan, then chemo and a surgery as he is worried about taking any time off from work and being able to continue to meet his everyday expenses, let alone these new concerns.

The impact of your support

Any money raised will go immediately to his care and to fill in for a week of daily living expenses after surgery and possibly a few other days here and there for chemotherapy. Copays and costs of testing, medications, and other treatments will be prioritized, but he also needs to keep a safe and stable living environment as well to heal in. He is only 50 and has not met his new grandson yet, he never asks for much, he just wants to afford minimum care to give him the tools he needs to beat this Gastric Cancer!
