Wage Mercy - That's my dad's motto.
My father, Craig Squib, has always been someone who reaches out and lends a helping hand to someone when they've fallen on hard times. Now my dad has (quite literally) fallen on hard times himself. Sunday afternoon, while my mom, dad, and their dog were walking at one of their favorite rivers, my dad slipped and fell on one of the wet rocks. Unfortunately, the fall caused my dad to tear his patellar tendon completely. The patellar tendon is the tendon below your knee cap, which holds it in place on the bottom. His knee cap was forced upward by the quadriceps tendon and required surgery to reattach the patellar tendon.
Anyone who has met my dad knows the type of man he is. He is hardworking, selfless, and an avid gym rat. At 60 years old, he is still stronger than most (if not all) people I know. This past winter, after being let go from his career of 17 years, he began working as a trucker as he had done many years ago. Despite this new role causing him to be away from my mom multiple nights per week, he gladly took on this new position so that he could continue to provide for his family and pay off their mortgage, which was nearly within reach before the job change.
Now my dad is unable to work, and my sister and I are looking to our friends and family to help give back to a man who is always ready and willing to live his motto, Wage Mercy, and give what he can to those who need it.
Any donations toward my dad's patellar tendon journey are greatly appreciated. Your donations will help:
- Pay for my father's medical bills
- Assist with other accrued expenses while dad's unable to work
With love, thanks, and appreciation - The Squib Family.
