Donations for Craig - Forever our “Hot Mess”

When the ball dropped at midnight to kick off a new year and decade, no one could have anticipated what the year was about to bring. It’s been filled with a list of tragic events that, as a nation, we have had to cautiously endure together.
On a smaller scale and as a residents of the Old City of Knoxville, We have seen how our community has rallied together to help and support each other through these trying times. I know that this request will be no different..
In July, our “Hot Mess” buddy Craig Lowe moved away to live closer to family in Key West, FL. I believe I can speak for everyone in saying that this was also a 2020 event that no one in Knoxville was particularly fond of. We knew that the city would be different without his behind the bar therapy sessions, outlandish humor, charisma and friendship that surrounded the city and all of us on a daily/nightly basis.
As I am sure many of you are now aware, Craig was involved in a tragic accident while driving in the Keys, a few weeks ago. At first, while it was believed the injuries were nothing more than a few broken bones, road rash and bruising, we later found out, through many scans and tests, that a series of strokes had taken place followed by the loss of critical organs throughout his body. With this prognosis, Craig was sadly unable to survive the battle and passed on 9/14/2020 at Miami University Hospital.
Unfortunately, due to the times that we are in, contact with Craig was difficult and visitors were extremely limited. Because of this, we all would like to firstly thank Craig’s brother, Brian, and his wife for being such a rock for the Knoxville community. I don’t know what we would have done without the daily updates and responses to us through this highly distressed time.
Brian has also given Krista and I the pleasure of putting this page together to help collect funds to go directly to Brian in assisting with Craig’s medical expenses and funeral costs. Since his passing, we have been surrounded by deeper to newly found friendships and the stories told have a resounding commonality of Craig’s unselfish and loving character, which we believe needs to be celebrated and recognized.
Thank you all for your love and support, as I know times are tough for many. I would also ask that everyone feel free to send any videos or photos that you would like to be a part of a memorial for Craig. Krista and myself will put something together to share with you all at a later date in remembrance. Please feel free to send anything through Facebook to Krista Thompson or Sydney Hogston.
To conclude, I will leave you with what I believe Craig would say in the most poetic way possible, “Thank you to my friends, family and especially my hooches.. you all are aaahhhhmazzin’!”❤️
