Hello everyone, my name is Christy Stelly. Several weeks ago my husband, Chad, and I met Craig & Erica and two of their children, Noah & Chris. It was actually at the pool in the campground we are currently staying. We weren’t surprised to find out that Craig & his family are also from Louisiana. This story is Craig’s Journey to Healing. Just when you can’t imagine anything worse happening than being rushed to the hospital with a life-threatening event it doesn’t end there. Read Craig’s story to find out how this Louisiana family gets through two unimaginable stressful events & still has faith that things will get better as long as they pray & stay strong together. All donations will go directly to Craig’s medical & financial expenses.
On the night of June 28, 2022, Craig was taken by ambulance to an emergency room in Baytown, Tx due to a high fever, throwing up brownish-like coffee grounds and his heart was in Afib (abnormal heart rhythm). Upon arrival to the ER it was determined that an infection on his right inner thigh was septic causing a flesh eating bacteria to form, invading & destroying any good tissue around the area. His first surgery was the next day to try & stop the infection from spreading throughout his body. Two more surgeries were performed on July 1st & July 6th. Craig was fighting for his life due to the aggressive & deadly bacteria invading his body. On July 9th, Craig was transferred to a wound care hospital in Katy, Tx due to the extent of care he needs. Another plastic surgery will be required in the coming days ahead. He is also receiving Physical & Occupational therapies due to not being able to move around. He has a wound vac (vacuum assisted closure) which uses negative pressure to decrease the amount of time for chronic wounds to heal & reduces the risk of infection. Craig has a long road to recovery of about 2 more months after his discharge to be able to work again.
Craig is the sole provider to his wife, Erica and Chris, who is 12yrs old. They also have a daughter, Sabrina, 25, and Noah, 20. Erica has been by Craig’s side his entire hospital stay. Being away from their children & extended family & friends has been difficult. Craig had just started his new job on June 13th so he has no health insurance at this time and the medical bills are piling up as well as the financial burden of not being able to work.
My husband and I only met Craig & Erica and their 2 sons several weeks ago and became friends instantly being from Louisiana as well and staying next to them in the RV park here in Baytown. When we heard what happened to Craig we wanted to help in any way possible so we tried to keep a close watch on their camper & Craig’s truck but on the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 27th, an unthinkable & horrific act happened! Craig’s Ford dually truck that he used to pull his rv was stolen from the gated campground parking lot! Erica filed a police report but was told the truck most likely will never be recovered. Now the stress of the hospitalization & the stolen truck is almost too much to bare. Craig & Erica are trying to keep their faith that God has a plan but are in desperate need of financial assistance to get through this difficult time. Any help will be greatly appreciated! God Bless! #give$5 #tell5people #Louisianastrong
