Craig Heinberg's Aplastic Anemia Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Our names are Andrew and Khai and we are initiating this campaign to give moral and financial support for our friend and mentor - legendary tennis coach Craig Heinberg.

Craig is in a fight for his life with a condition called Aplastic Anemia. He is currently under the care of great doctors at the best hospital he can be for this condition, but he has a long road of recovery ahead to get back home and courtside.

We are both former students of Craig's and have not taken lessons from him in over 20 years, but his impact on our lives is still felt. Craig and his wife Diane have opened their hearts and home to countless students over several decades, and have been kind and generous to so many. Whether it was the countless nights with frozen hands on the court until 10:00 pm, the weekend drives all over southern California for tournaments, or just his steadfast and supportive presence through the good times and the bad - Craig was always there supporting us far beyond what was expected or required.

The purpose of this GoFundMe campaign is to provide a "place" for the community to rally around Craig and the Heinberg family. The financial contributions will be used to help his wife Diane continue her regular hours-long commutes to spend time with Craig while in the hospital, to alleviate the financial stress that the family is feeling as a result of Craig's illness, and to give them options in making healthcare decisions as they make plans for Craig's extended recovery and return home.

Whether or not you are in a position to contribute financially, Craig needs our moral support as much as anything at this moment. Please use this forum as a way to communicate your thoughts and encouragement for Craig as he faces this battle. His family will be sharing these messages with him. He needs to know each day that there is a large community pulling for him, and wanting to see him back on his feet. Craig may be among the most mentally tough people alive, but severe illness and prolonged hospital stays are something that nobody can endure by himself.

If you would like to otherwise communicate with Craig or his family, assist with Diane's commute, or visit Craig during his recovery, please let us know. Any and all of these efforts will be deeply appreciated.
