Crafters Against Covid-19 is a network of hundreds of Seattle area community members using their time and talent to alleviate shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and distribute facemasks where they are most needed in our communities. The demand for our masks is still extremely high – as of September 15th we have distributed nearly 85,000 masks and are fielding requests for almost 15,000 more.
Funds raised here help us execute our mission in the following ways:
· Materials procurement and distribution
· Gas reimbursement for volunteer drivers
· Defraying laundry costs
Although cloth masks do not match the level of protection of medical grade PPE, they are currently essential to prevent community-based transmission of COVID-19. Crafters Against Covid-19 donates masks to community organizations strategically positioned to stop the spread of this virus. Our diverse recipient organizations provide healthcare and eldercare, alleviate homelessness and hunger, serve children and families, and much more. Our partnership with these essential organizations and services helps keep communities in the broader Seattle area healthy.
Because the crisis is ongoing all our funds are currently needed to cover our mission to make and distribute fabric masks. In the event that our fundraising exceeds our organization’s need, all unused donations will support Seattle-area businesses and independent contractors impacted financially by COVID-19. We cannot currently provide financial relief to businesses and individuals at this time.
