The Christine Rosholt Act of Kindness Fund was set up in January of 2012 in memory of my sister, Christine, who suffered from substance abuse and depression which led to her death from suicide. Christine was a charismatic and talented, singer, artist and photographer who turned events into occasions just by walking in the door.
This fund was set up by the Rosholt family to address basic needs of people with mental illnesses and chemical dependency, who have been civilly committed in Hennepin County. Most of these people live below poverty level, have no family or social support and many are homeless. This fund provides for basic nessecities, including medical and dental care, food, clothing and support for housing. In one case, funds were used to purchase a prosthetic leg for a 28 year old man who lost his leg to bone cancer. It also provides for
travel expenses to visit family, and care packages for people who are in a locked mental health facility for a significant period of time.
As an attorney in Civil Commitment Court, who works directly with this population, I know there is an urgent need for this type of flexible and immediate financial support. The $30,000 donated to this memorial fund has almost been depleted, and the fund will be closed without more donations.
Please take this opportunity to do something positive. Mental illness and chemical dependency is not just someone else's problem--it affects all of us.
Thank you for considering a tax-deductable contribution to the fund.
The Christine Rosholt Act of Kindness Fund is administered by the Hennepin Health Foundation, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
