Cracked Teeth & Cracked Carbon Are No Fun
Donation protected
On Friday March 8th, I crashed my bike while descending a local climb in Los Angeles. After hitting a patch of gravel, I was flung over the handle bars and took the first impact directly on my face. This crash left me with three severely broken teeth, a fractured jaw bone, deep road rash, a sprained wrist (wow I am still typing things!), a crack in my carbon fiber bike frame, whole body bruising, AND what we later found to be cracks in two other teeth.

I was checked out by firemen and paramedics on the scene and went directly to an urgent care and the dentist an hour later. The dentist took X-rays and diagnosed that I would need emergency root canals on the broken teeth and due to the damage on the others, a total of six crowns. This was devastating to me to have such an important and signature part of my body completely changed in the blink of an eye. When they told me that this entire procedure would be $8000, I almost didn't hear them due to the trauma of the previous few hours. And there was nothing I could do, other than wait for my teeth to turn black and fall out if I didn't sign off on it.

Since March 8th I have had my root canals, impressions taken for my new crowns, and been fitted with temporary teeth. I also had to take my bike to a carbon fiber repair shop (which generously dropped the $500 fix down to $400). Lastly, my hospital bills for urgent care, X-rays, and medications has brought this final accident total to $9000. The bill for these services is money I just don't have. I don't come from a family that has funds to cover things like this for their loved ones, so I am on my own. I am requesting help at the encouragement of many of my social media followers ( www.instagram.com/trilife_at_30kft ) who have expressed interest in helping. And as much as it pains me to admit I need the help, I have to be honest with myself that I do.
So thank you for reading this and hearing my story. I have learned the true capacity of my strength and felt the full support of the community around me thus far. I am a lucky girl. If you make a donation, please reach out to me. I am always available on my social media, via email, and if you are in Southern California, I want to swimbikerun with you. Thank you, truly.
