C.R., The Wonder Cat, Has Lots of Health Issues

Donation protected

My name is Ariana Postlethwait. I am a social worker, college professor, and some would say Crazy Cat Lady. I hope to raise money to pay for the care of Christopher Robin, a sweet one-year-old cat who weighs less than 10 lbs. and has a lot of health issues. I am looking for an adoptive home (which will break my heart) but until then I need financial assistance. I am hoping to find him a new home within the next three months. I am a Louisiana gal who lives in Murfreesboro, TN.

I rescued four kittens in July 2020 who were living in a barn. I was going through a divorce (kitten rescue is an excellent distraction from gut-wrenching grief, by the way) and these kittens stole my heart. I adopted two out and kept Christopher Robin and his brother, Mr. Bonkers. CR, as he is known by his fans, was the smallest in the litter (1/3 lb.), very sick, and covered in fleas. I just could not leave him to die out in the elements. I don’t regret it but, man oh man, I had no idea what I was getting into.

If you want to learn more about the early days of CR’s life, along with his siblings, you can go to my FB Album:

The Kitty Cat Diaries

CR has multiple health issues.

He cannot urinate on his own, so I express (squeeze) his bladder; this also means he cannot be left alone for long periods of time. He can poop on this own but is not good about location. He has some nerve damage, possibly from a botfly larva that was embedded near his spine. He has some nerve-related twitches which don’t seem to hurt, and he cannot clean himself very well. He has weak hind legs. He also has trouble regulating his body temperature, so I make sure he sleeps with a heater at night. Likely, he was not dealt the best hand of DNA and the first 7-8 weeks of his life did not improve the situation.

All the folks at Barfield Animal Hospital have been great. They are all CR fans.(Shocking, I know. )

Donated money will be spent on CR’s care: food, daycare, medications, vet visits, blood work, and any other unanticipated expenses.

• His probiotic and digestive enzymes are about $30/month.

• Food that does not upset his sensitive belly is around $100 monthly.

• Periodic thyroid tests to check his levels are a bit over $200 every several months.

• During the school year he goes to day care ($15/day) several times a week so someone can express his bladder.

• He also needs other medications at various times depending on what is going on in his little body.

• Vet visits are approximately $50, which fluctuates, depending on what is going on with him that day. (More often than not something is going on.)

• Boarding, if I need to leave town, ranges from $30 - $74/day, depending on who is available to care for CR.

Why is this important to me?

For anyone who has cared for an ailing pet, you know how bonding that caregiving can be. CR is a spunky, interactive, strong-spirited little dude who deserves good care, as we all do.

He is a sweet little cat who tolerates baths and blow dryers and has never met a stranger. He bangs his head on the dog and chases ice cubes. He has survived two near-death experiences, pancreatitis twice, Limping Kitten Syndrome, ringworm, hypothermia, a botfly larva, and more.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide, financial or otherwise.

I also am incredibly grateful for past funds I received from folks and the constant moral support I have received from so many. There are various ways to help CR.
