Miracles for Mike!

Dear family and friends,
As many of you know, our dad was recently diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. On July 3rd, Mike underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor that was causing him headaches and seizures. Unfortunately, the post-surgery pathology report revealed that the tumor was a Grade 4 glioblastoma—a much more aggressive form of cancer than expected.
Loved by all, Mike brings joy to everyone he is around – a generous friend, an incredible father, a loving "Pops" to his three granddaughters, and celebrating 40 years of marriage to our mom, Brenda, later this fall. His sense of humor, kind heart and zest for life brighten any room. Family, friends, and colleagues alike cherish him, whether he's riding his bike, playing with his grandkids, boating on Beaver Lake, or working, as he called it, “the only joy in life”. Our dad has always been a true source of happiness and inspiration to all those around him.
Our community is rallying to support Mike in his fight against brain cancer. Over the next few weeks he will begin an aggressive regimen of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, and is working to enroll in a ground-breaking clinical trial to support his recovery. In this, our parents face the daunting reality of significant medical and travel expenses. Further, he will be unable to work for the near future.
While it is still overwhelming to believe this is our new reality, we are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to raise the necessary funds to cover various medical and travel expenses for Mike’s treatments (though we all know he would really love for this to be a new bike fund). We ask for your generosity to support him in his recovery.
Thank you all for the meals that have been delivered, the kind messages that have been sent and for checking in on our family along the way. It has been an incredibly heavy time, but you all continue to give us so much hope on this journey. We appreciate you helping him take each step forward with courage, love, and the knowledge that he is surrounded by family, friends and a community that cares deeply for him.
He is truly so incredible- let’s get Mike back on his bike!
