Team Rad: Mission Laos are volunteers consisting of 1 paediatric radiologist from the UK, and 2 sonographers and 2 radiographers from Calgary, Canada. We will go to Friends Without a Border Children’s Hospital, Laos to offer hands on teaching and education. Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia and one of East Asia’s poorest countries.
Friends Without A Borders has recently opened the children’s hospital but are reliant on overseas experience to support their staff and doctors.
The hospital is located in the northern city of Luang Prabhang in Laos. The hospital provides free care to the population regardless of race, religion or economic background. We aim to teach the local technicians and doctors to be diagnostically self-sufficient for common paediatric conditions. The skills taught will be used to better treat the local population.
The team will be going in March 2016.
We will use the money towards the travel, accomodation and food expenses. Any unused portion of the money will be donated directly to the hospital.
We will be greatful for any donation received as this will allow us to share our expertise and help a low resource country.
