Tony & Doreen Baker Emergency Fund
Donation protected
Those of you who know me know I'm not the kind to ask for a handout but I'm reaching out for support for my parents over the next couple months. On Wednesday, November 4th, around 5:30am my father, Tony Baker, was driving his truck on I-80 in central Pennsylvania when his trailer skidded on some gravel into the median and rolled onto its drivers side, taking his truck with it. The impact of the accident tore his trucks driver side door off and left him pinned with fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, three fractures in his pelvis, a fractured left shoulder blade, and cuts and scrapes all over, especially on his left side. He had to be cut from the truck by emergency personnel and flown about 40 miles to Altoona, PA, where he's been undergoing treatment for a week now.
Dad has made good progress and is preparing to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility near home, but will likely be out of work for some time while he undergoes rehabilitation on his fractured pelvis and shoulder blade. He has no disability insurance, and although his medical bills and some of his lost income should be covered by Workers Compensation, it may be six to eight weeks before they receive anything, leaving them struggling to cover their bills in the meantime.
Anyone who knows my father knows that he's the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He even volunteers to drive his church's bus to pick up children in the area for sunday school every week. Any assistance everyone can provide to take even a small financial burdon off him and my mother so he can focus on getting healed up and back to work would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any support you can provide and for sharing this with others you may know. Your help is sincerely appreciated.
