„Zapalmy znicz Polskim Lotnikom” – wspólnie oddajmy hołd Bohaterom Polskich Skrzydeł

Grupa Patriotyczna Polskie Dywizjony Lotnicze już od pięciu lat organizuje uroczystość „Zapalmy znicz Polskim Lotnikom”, której celem jest uczczenie pamięci polskich lotników walczących podczas II wojny światowej. To wyjątkowe wydarzenie przypomina o odwadze, poświęceniu i niezłomnym duchu tych, którzy z dala od Ojczyzny stanęli do walki o wolność Europy i obronę brytyjskiego nieba.

Każdego roku 1 Listopada spotykamy się wraz z Polonią oraz mieszkańcami Londynu przy Pomnik Polskich Lotników, aby złożyć hołd Bohaterom Polskich Sił Powietrznych. To właśnie oni, nosząc na mundurach biało-czerwoną szachownicę, udowodnili światu, że Polska, choć okupowana i pozbawiona wolności, nigdy nie utraciła ducha walki. Ich męstwo podczas powietrznych zmagań nad Wielką Brytanią stało się symbolem odwagi, honoru i wierności najwyższym wartościom.

Polscy lotnicy zapisali jedną z najpiękniejszych kart w historii oręża polskiego. Walcząc ramię w ramię z aliantami, bronili nie tylko brytyjskiego nieba, ale również honoru Rzeczypospolitej. Ich zwycięstwa, poświęcenie i gotowość do oddania życia za wolność pozostają źródłem dumy dla kolejnych pokoleń Polaków.

Aby podtrzymać tę wyjątkową tradycję pamięci i wdzięczności, prowadzimy zbiórkę na zakup zniczy, które zostaną uroczyście zapalone podczas tegorocznych obchodów. Płomień każdego znicza będzie symbolem naszej pamięci, szacunku i narodowej wdzięczności wobec tych, którzy nie zawahali się poświęcić wszystkiego w służbie Ojczyźnie.

Każda wpłata – niezależnie od jej wysokości – ma ogromne znaczenie. Dzięki wspólnemu zaangażowaniu możemy godnie uczcić pamięć polskich lotników, zachować prawdę o ich bohaterstwie oraz przekazać młodemu pokoleniu wiedzę o ludziach, którzy swoim czynem udowodnili, że „za wolność naszą i waszą” nie było jedynie hasłem, lecz życiowym zobowiązaniem.

For the past five years, the Patriotic Group Polish Air Force Squadrons has organized the annual ceremony “Light a Candle for Polish Airmen”, dedicated to honoring the memory of Polish aviators who fought during the Second World War. This special event commemorates the courage, sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of those who, far from their homeland, stood up to fight for the freedom of Europe and the defense of British skies.

Every year on 1 November, together with the Polish community and the residents of London, we gather at the Polish Air Force Memorial to pay tribute to the heroes of the Polish Air Force. Wearing the red-and-white checkerboard insignia on their uniforms, they showed the world that although Poland was occupied and deprived of its freedom, it never lost its fighting spirit. Their bravery during the aerial battles over Great Britain became a symbol of courage, honor, and unwavering commitment to the highest values.

Polish airmen wrote one of the finest chapters in the history of the Polish Armed Forces. Fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Allies, they defended not only British skies but also the honor of the Republic of Poland. Their victories, sacrifices, and readiness to lay down their lives for freedom remain a source of pride for generations of Poles.

To preserve this meaningful tradition of remembrance and gratitude, we are raising funds to purchase memorial candles, which will be ceremonially lit during this year’s commemorations. The flame of each candle will symbolize our remembrance, respect, and national gratitude toward those who never hesitated to sacrifice everything in service to their homeland.

Every contribution—regardless of its amount—makes a real difference. Through our collective efforts, we can honor the memory of Polish airmen with dignity, preserve the truth about their heroism, and pass on to younger generations the knowledge of those who proved through their actions that “For Our Freedom and Yours” was not merely a slogan, but a lifelong commitment.
