Help A Father Fight
Pride is the hardest pill to swallow & I just took mine down without any water.
I’m reaching out today to family, friends, & anyone who will listen that I'm asking for assistance.
For those of you that know me, know that my work ethics are fantastic & my resume will impress you.
Unfortunately, that’s still not enough to cover what I am being forced to comply within my legal battle for my daughter.
Started in 2013, a lady had a child in Illinois & told me I was not the father.
5 years later, I got a message from a fake profile claiming to be her ex, saying she believed I was the father.
I found her online, sent her a message. She said yes I am the father & that she was sorry for lying to me that her ex made her hide my daughter from me.
So that began that legal battle of determining parental establishment & fighting for time/rights. At this time I was living in Las Vegas making a decent income, I’m married & I have a son living with autism.
The moment I got the phone call telling me the results of the DNA test that I was the father I made the immediate decision to relocate me and my family to Illinois as close as I knew to where my co-parent and daughter are living.
Since leaving Las Vegas my monthly income has dramatically decreased. Before leaving Vegas I was averaging around $6000 - $8000 a month.
Now living in a small town with less than 6000 people, I’m averaging $2200 - $2400 a month. A few months in 2019 even less than $2000. It took everything we saved to move here. There was no money left over from Vegas.
That is a major hit. I am making enough to literally cover just my bills. The courts averaged what I made while living in Vegas in with what I showed and set me to pay child support on a $3300 a month average.
Being forced to comply with $1000+ extra a month I’m not making & proved this.
That’s $523 a month. And then, the new judge we have decided to put the arrearage in effect from April through August 2019 from when paternity was established at $601 a month.
The lawyer I retained told me last summer 2019 start paying anything you can on child support because child support is going to happen and I said OK.
I had paid $1000 before the final court order came out stating that I was to pay $523 a month in Sept 2019. The new judge decided to take that thousand dollars & apply it to the arrearage which was set on reserve from the previous judge & then held me in contempt for $1300. Because that $1000 was paid before the date of the final order.
NOTE: I am not asking for assistance in paying my child support, that is my main priority & I am paying that with my income. I am seeking help for legal representation & to help get caught up on my bills that child support has caused me to get behind in.
This has caused a lot of stress already playing catch up with my monthly bills. Has put me in a position to pick and choose what to pay.
So this is the dilemma I am facing. I have a total amount due of $4470 & in order to purge myself from contempt I have to have at least $1316 paid or I’m going to jail before March 1.
Once that total is caught up, I can then proceed to have child support modified. To reflex my current income. As well as a new $3000 attorney retainer. to proceed forward with modification and fighting for my parenting time that I've already been robbed of.
If I don’t pay, I’m going to jail. If I do pay, I’m getting evicted from my home.
At the same time, I’m going to continue to work 7 days a week & find the clients to get business back up.
I only have a few weeks to figure this out & waited to the last minute before ever even thinking of asking.
If you’re unable to donate that’s perfectly fine. I don’t want anyone to feel obligated just simply say a prayer for me. Those are just as powerful.
Thank you for your time, God bless.
