On May 14, 2025, Andrea's life took a dramatic turn when she was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance. Following a series of tests, the hospital realized she needed to be transferred to a specialty hospital that was better equipped to handle her severe and life-threatening diagnosis as she had a complete bowel obstruction in her small intestine.
She was then transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where time was of the essence as they needed to act fast and get her into surgery. At the time, the surgeon did not fully know what he was up against until after he was in there, and it was uncertain if he was going to be able to save the small intestine, which also meant that Andrea also would not survive through the surgery. Given this information, she prepared herself for the worst-case scenario and requested her last rites to be read to her as well as confirming it was documented that she was an organ donor. Even when her own life is on the line, she is still thinking about how she can help others.
She went into surgery right before midnight on Tuesday, May 14th, and was placed in a medically induced coma until close to 3 p.m. the next day. Since Tuesday, Andrea has undergone two successful surgeries where the surgeon was successful in saving not only her life, but he was able to save the entire small intestine and remove all the scar tissue that was growing inside.
Andrea is now facing a long and challenging road to recovery, but she remains determined to overcome this hurdle and get back on her feet. If you know Andrea, you know she has a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, rarely asking for help for herself. I have set up this account on her behalf as the financial burden of being out of work is going to be significant, but with your support, we can help alleviate some of that burden and stress.
PLEASE HELP ease Andrea’s mind so she can put all her focus into her healing and recovery, free from the worry of how she will manage to pay her bills while out of work. I ask that, if you are able, please consider making a donation; any monetary amount is a huge help and a testament to the power of community.
We also understand if you are unable to donate, you can still contribute by helping us spread the word and share this page.
I know your support will mean the world to Andrea, and we thank you for being a beacon of hope during this challenging time.
