David has been a resident of the Long Beach community for a long 17 years and counting! David moved here to help his mom and stepfather in Ilwaco as they got older and entered into “elderly lifestyle“. When it comes to work Dave worked at Box K as a master auto tech for four years, then moved to different pastures and started at Peninsula auto and worked there for three years until Peninsula auto sold and went under new ownership where he continued to work for nine more years. After being an auto tech Dave decided to go a different route and started his very own barbecue business which began as flat black barbecue before partnering up with a friend David Allen and created the streetside BBQ we all know and love. Before moving to the peninsula Dave lived a majority of his life in California where he grew up and attended school. Dave then joined the US Army in 1982 serving our country by traveling around the world from Germany, Korea, Central America, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Dave’s military career came to an end after becoming 50% physically disabled in the first Persian Gulf war in 1992. We are reaching out to the friends and our community in hopes to help raise $2500 to go towards medical costs and a new set of teeth for Dave. On February 21, 2022 Dave experienced severe breathing complications and was transferred to the VA emergency room where he was diagnosed with a severe infection in his lung casing caused by undiagnosed pneumonia and a pre-existing oral infection. Dave’s lung became 2/3 collapsed and required Dave to stay in the ICU for two days and in the hospital for a total of 15. During his long stay they had to remove all of his teeth in hopes to prevent any further spreading of the infection. Dave is now home and on the mend but is needing help to raise this money to ease the financial burden he now has to face. Any size donation given to help this man who has spent most of his life helping everyone else would be greatly appreciated! if you would like to help out in more than just a donation Friday, March 25 from noon to 10 PM North jetty brewing will be holding a fundraiser where a $1.00 from every pint of North Jetty beer sold will be donated. there will also be a donation bin available as well at the Jetty Taproom. We thank you for your time, your efforts, and of course all of your help♥️
