Support Alex's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
Our cousin, Alex Gruling, is recovering from complications due to a ruptured appendix. This unforeseen medical emergency has brought on a significant financial burden, especially as Alex settles into a new job, manages a new business with his wife, Dana, and they care for their four young children. To add to their challenges, Alex and his family are grieving the loss of our beloved Grandma Eppie, who passed on November 16th while Alex was intubated.
In the spirit of giving, consider donating to support Alex's recovery as you are able. Your support can alleviate Alex and Dana's financial strain, assist with medical bills, and offer stability to their family during this difficult time. Every contribution, large or small, is greatly appreciated.
Read more about Alex's journey:
Late Sunday, November 12th, Alex's wife Dana called 911 after what they thought was a stomach bug caused Alex to faint. At the ER in Merrill, they found he was low on blood. Once stable, Alex was transported by ambulance to Aspirus in Wausau, where he underwent many tests, a scope, and a CT scan. The medical staff determined his appendix had ruptured, and its contents leaked into his tissues. They decided the best thing for Alex was to transfer him to a hospital better equipped to care for his condition. Once a bed was located, Alex was airlifted at 4 AM Monday to Froedtert in Milwaukee, where he quickly underwent two surgeries. In the days after, Alex was slow to follow commands and remained intubated. By Saturday, the tube was removed, and Alex can now interact with his care team and family. Fueled by popsicles, he is showing Froedtert how determined he is to defy the odds and get home to his family.
Please send healing thoughts and feel free to share. Your support is appreciated. From our family to yours, we wish you a safe and healthy holiday season.
