Money for Martin

Officer Mike Martin has been employed with the Albemarle Police Department since January of 1986. While in service, Officer Martin began serving the community as a School Resource Officer in 1988 and was primarily responsible for the safety and care of the children in our city schools. In 1992, Officer Martin made Sergeant and continued with his work and service in the Stanly County School System until the day of his retirement in February 2012. Since retiring, Officer Martin has continued to serve the community as Director of Security for Stanly Community College.  Along with his SRO duties, Officer Martin coached youth football, soccer, and marksmanship teams in the community. Throughout his career and also in retirement, Officer Martin made the needs of the schools and their students a priority. Officer Martin has touched the lives of many students and faculty alike throughout the years.  

In November of 2019, Officer Martin was diagnosed with brain cancer. In true form, Officer Martin is meeting this challenge head on and fighting it with everything he has. In his fight, Officer Martin has accrued heavy financial burdens. Officer Martin is in immediate need of a motorized wheelchair and a lift for his vehicle.
