Help to pay for repairs, replacement costs, and lost wages

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ingrid and I have started this GoFundMe to help Shandrel and Isaiah to pay for costs due to damage done to their apartment and personal items by a vengeful coworker, as well as lost wages. These siblings have been through a great deal of trauma over the past 5 years and need help from the community.

In March 2020, I met Shandrel (then 18 and a senior in high school) and her brother, Isaiah (then 13) through IntelliHelp, a Facebook organization that helped people coping with financial difficulties during Covid. Shandrel put in a request for food as their mother was sick with Covid at the time. She died 2 weeks later. Their father died in 2018 so they became orphans. Shandrel immediately started working at McDonald’s for $7.25/hr while completing her senior year online. She has provided for her and her brother ever since and currently works 2 jobs, about 56 hours a week. Her main job is at CVS as a Pharmaceutical Tech.

In August 2024, an older coworker picked a physical fight with her out of jealousy and that person lost her job. She was angry about her dismissal and another coworker provided that person with Shandrel’s home address and subsequently damaged the apartment by throwing bricks through their windows on two occasions. The coworker who provided Shandrel’s address also lost her job. Out of vengeance, she and her brother, a convicted felon with a new warrant for his arrest, assaulted Shandrel at the bus stop. Shandrel had to be hospitalized 2 days for her injuries. Both the ex-coworker and her brother were immediately arrested. Out of extreme caution, Shandrel and her brother were forced to move. They made sure limited individuals had their new address.

On 3/26, the ex-coworker who attacked Shandrel in August got released from jail and she was given Shandrel’s schedule and new address by the only person who knew it, the CVS manager. On 3/27, Shandrel got off the bus in front of the store just before her 7a shift when the ex-coworker assaulted her by hitting her and ripping her shirt. Shandrel used mace to protect herself and was assisted by the driver back onto the bus. The coworker had an accomplice with her that quickly helped her get away. The police put Shandrel into a hotel for her safety until they could catch them. Isaiah has been hospitalized so he was safe.

In the early morning hours of 3/28, the ex-coworker and 2 others went to Shandrel’s new apartment, broke the door down, busted the front windows and wall, poured bleach on living room items, took her Nike’s and all of her brother’s shoes. They were about to trash the apartment when the police caught them and immediately arrested 2 of them. The 3rd got away and is still be sought. The CVS manager was also arrested as she provided the schedule info and home address.

Sadly, Shandrel’s apartment manager is insisting that she pay for the broken windows which will cost $300. They have waived the cost of replacing the door, damage to the wall, and cleaning of the damaged carpet. She will need to replace a number of stolen and damaged items as well like clothing, shoes, bedding, etc. Shandrel has also lost many days of wages as she is still under police protection, unable to work her primary job. This GoFundMe is being set up to help her with these costs. Any help will be greatly appreciated! If you are uncomfortable with donating to the fund but would like to help, she can use gift cards to Walmart, Burlington, etc. to help replace items. Feel free to contact me for information.
