Hello! My name is Amberly and I, alongside my boss Taisee, have founded Fern’s Rescue (pending 501-c3). This is Cowgirl. Cowgirl has been in and out of homes for years now, not due to her any of her own faults. One family didn’t want to have her live in an apartment, another wasn’t able to house her anymore, and Cowgirl ended up back with us. Up until December we had had no interest in Cowgirl whatsoever, and she had been available for over 6 months. Cowgirl is a 5-6 year old lab mix, and the most loving dog. She just wanted a family of her own. That’s when Jayci Finch messaged me and offered to have Cowgirl stay with her and her sweet family over the holidays. The holidays came and went and they had absolutely fallen in love with her. As the time passed they decided Cowgirl was such a special part of their family and it was time to adopt her. Cowgirl’s new life has been wonderful with them, they have been so dedicated to giving her the best of care they can. Unfortunately, shortly after adopting her, Cowgirl tore her CCL. A CCL is similar to an ACL in human anatomy and she now cannot put weight on her back leg and is in a lot of pain. The surgery to repair this injury is called a TPLO and costs anywhere from $3500-$6000 depending on your animals weight, age, and what clinic you go to. Jayci’s mom, Andriana, has been checking countless clinics for pricing and to find the best surgery option, however the steep price is making it hard to get Cowgirl the care she needs. We are hoping if we can crowdfund a good chunk of the money for surgery they can get her scheduled and back to being in good shape in no time!
